Island Security Policy Institute Opens Online Newsroom and Free Research Library of 56 Papers
Journalists, policymakers and practitioners can now find ISPI press releases, a press kit and 56 free research papers on island public safety in one place.
HONOLULU, October 11, 2026 — The Island Security Policy Institute (ISPI), a nonprofit research organization based in Honolulu, today opened its online newsroom at ispiglobal.com/news and announced that its full research library of 56 papers is free to read and download at ispiglobal.com/research.
What is available
The research library covers public safety, emergency preparedness and security policy for island and coastal communities, with a focus on Hawaii and the Pacific. It is organized in four series:
- White Paper Series: 12 papers
- Hawaii Policy Research Series: 10 papers
- Policy Brief Series: 19 briefs
- Commentary Series: 15 commentaries
Each paper has its own page with a summary, a free PDF and a suggested citation. The papers are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and no registration is required to read them.
The newsroom gathers ISPI's institutional press releases, a dated release for each paper in the library, ISPI commentary on current events and a media contact. A separate press kit provides a fact sheet, boilerplate, a founder biography and logo files for journalists.

About the Island Security Policy Institute
The Island Security Policy Institute (ISPI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization founded in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, in 2026. ISPI produces practitioner-led research on public safety, emergency preparedness and security policy for island and coastal communities, with a focus on Hawaii and the Pacific. Its 56 research papers are free at ispiglobal.com/research. ISPI is a nonprofit organization; its application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is pending. Contributions are not tax-deductible until IRS recognition is granted.
